University of Calgary

Jonathan is an international exchange student from the University of Calgary, where he is pursuing a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Aerospace Engineering. His background includes hands-on aerospace experience with a student-built satellite launched in May 2026. During its two-year mission lifetime, the satellite aims to capture data on the Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement (STEVE) phenomenon.

This summer, Jonathan’s research investigates hardware acceleration techniques for FFT and digital signal processing routines on a RISC-V core. Working with FPGAs, he aims to evaluate these acceleration methods while exploring future integration with RISC-V architectures to study their impact on power efficiency and design optimization in aerospace applications.
