Kian Lam (Lam Tsz Hang) is an undergraduate member of CALAS and a BEng student in Computer and Data Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, expected to graduate in June 2027. His Final Year Project, co-supervised by Prof. Mu Ku Chen and Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung, is an edge-based real-time vibration monitoring system. The work covers on-device signal handling, data quality and freshness, and the path from raw sensor input to usable outputs.

His projects sit at the software-systems end of embedded and IoT pipelines: Raspberry Pi and Arduino sensing, preprocessing, object detection and OCR, MySQL and Firebase backends, and live dashboards. He has also built cloud UIs so sensor readings sync in real time. In 2025, he was second runner-up at the Tencent AI Coding Hackathon, shipping a playable conservation game under a tight deadline with LLM-assisted tooling.
